Last Saturday the Colts Final was played at McLean Park between HRS
& Tech. It was a very exciting game with Tech beginning strongly and
getting out to a healthy and well-deserved lead of 17 – 0, before our boys
found their mojo and scored a converted try and a penalty to go to the
break at halftime 10 – 17 behind. We played much better in the second
half and kicked another penalty followed by a great try to take us into the
lead with about ten minutes left to play.
Unfortunately, Tech sparked into action and were rewarded with a
converted try to take back the lead 24 – 18. We attacked their line for the
last five minutes and in the 80th minute it appeared we had scored a try
beside the posts, but the referee did not agree and after the five metre
scrum that ensued, the match ended soon after. (This was a controversial
decision as video evidence suggests the try was scored. However, the
referee only gets one chance to see it and was not best placed to make that
call).
The entire coaching and management group of the 2020 Colts would like
to sincerely thank our loyal and dedicated parents, grandparents and
supporters very much for your unwavering support throughout this
unusual 2020 season. We will return after the summer.
(Cheers – Pete Scott).
