The Auto Super Shoppes HRS Premiers played Napier Pirates in the last round of the Maddison Trophy in what was a must win game to lock in a Semi Final.
HRS got away to a great start dominating the first 20 minutes taking an early 14-0 lead. Bryson Ioane showed his class with two tries before halftime to lead 28-5.
The second half was much the same with HRS playing with real physicality and holding the ball for long periods to continue on and win 43-26.
It was also great to see recently re-signed Magpies player Connor McLeod returning to HRS to play his first minutes for the club since winning the Maddison Trophy in 2020 – he along with Folau Fakatava will be available to play in this weekend’s Semi Final vs NOBM at Park Island 3:00pm.
Taufa Kaufononga picked up player of the day after a strong performance in a dominant loose forward trio, Blake ‘Fridge’ Tresidder keeps getting better every week and picked up 2 points, with Bryson Ioane taking 1 point.
