The Senior 2’s took on Napier Old Boys Marist at Tremain Field in what we expected would be a tight match.
On a cold and wet day, we knew we had to play to the conditions and keep it tight as we aimed up for the semi-finals. Much of the first half was dominated by the weather, with handling errors from both teams and Marist with an early lead. It felt like we were playing against 16 and this made it difficult. In the second half the team started playing to the game plan, building momentum and a couple of tries to us despite many calls not going our way.
The whole team played with heart and pride, but we ended up with a narrow loss and a valuable bonus point on the table. So we ended up fourth in the competition and an away semi-final at Porangahau.
